SOL Performance by School and Grade
Having looked at Pass Proficient and Pass Advanced performance by grade, let’s turn to those data for each Richmond school.
That’s far too many graphs to post here, so I’ve posted the spreadsheet on OneDrive. You’ll see a display with a graph that looks like this:
As before, the red diamonds are Pass Advanced rates, with yellow lines for Richmond and blue for the state. Green circles are Pass Proficient, with the same meaning for the lines’ colors. Plain lines are the total pass rates with Richmond still yellow.
Below that are the selection boxes for two pivot tables, one for Richmond,
the other for the State average.
As you see, to get the graphs above they were used to select the 5th grade reading pass rates for all Richmond schools.
In the Richmond box, select your school (or click the “Select Multiple Items” box, then clear the “All” selection and select two or more schools). Then pick your subject area and grade. Then go to the State selection box and pick the subject and grade to compare to the Richmond item(s). The graph and the display boxes will change to reflect your selections.
One wrinkle: A few years ago, they modified most school names to end in “elementary,” “middle,” or “high.” Thus, MLK Middle School became MLK Middle. If you want all the MLK data, you’ll have to select both names, and the School entry will then read “Multiple Items.” Sigh.
Oh, go try it. It’s not as hard as it sounds. Here, e.g. is MLK for 8th grade math.
And here is our neighborhood school for 5th grade reading.
Shout (john {at} crankytaxpayer {dot} org) if you have any trouble with this.
