When we have conditions like these in our schools, how can Mayor Dwight C. Jones and the members of Richmond City Council even think about spending $80-million-plus to build a baseball stadium in Shockoe Bottom?
Pie-in-the-sky financial promises that may or not materialize do not fix roofs or maintain school buildings.
The photos below show the conditions at Carver Elementary School this morning. Kimberly B. Gray, 2nd-District Richmond School Board member, said she posted the photos "because no child or teacher should have to endure these deplorable conditions."
"I am tired of our children and our schools being treated like second-class citizens. How is it that money can be found for the Redskins and for baseball stadiums, but our children are supposed to sit in schools with leaking roofs and backed up drainage?"
